Who can take part

  • You have a new blood clot in your lung (acute pulmonary embolism) diagnosed within the last 14 days.
  • The CT scan shows strain on your heart (right ventricle larger than left).
  • A blood test shows a high troponin level, indicating heart muscle stress.
  • You are 18 years or older and have at least one sign of a more severe clot (like low blood pressure, fast heart rate, low oxygen, or a history of heart failure).
  • You are not pregnant, do not have a bleeding disorder, and are not on long-term blood thinners that would prevent this procedure.
