- You are an adult (18 years or older)
- You are on VA-ECMO, a specific type of life-support machine
- You are currently sedated (not fully awake)
- No one has diagnosed you with limb (arm/leg) blood flow problems before ECMO was started
- Your arm or leg injury is not so severe that the monitoring device cannot be safely placed
