Who can take part

  • You are 19 or older.
  • You have cardiogenic shock (heart isn't pumping enough blood) and need a heart pump placed through an artery in your groin.
  • You can understand the risks and benefits of getting a leg blood flow tube, or a family member can agree for you.
  • You do not have severe leg problems right after the pump is inserted.
  • You do not have a bleeding disorder that makes procedures too risky.
  • You are not pregnant, could become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
  • You have not had certain leg bypass surgeries or a leg amputation.
