Home ECG monitoring to reduce atrial fibrillation episodes

Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation

This trial uses a home heart monitor (a chest patch with an ECG) to study how atrial fibrillation (an irregular heartbeat) changes over time and how this may help manage symptoms. You may be included if you have a documented, short-lasting type of atrial fibrillation and a moderate amount of AF seen on a 14-day heart recording.

Who can take part

  • You’re 18 to 85 years old and have documented paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (episodes usually under 7 days).
  • Your recent continuous 14-day heart recording shows AF time between 0.5% and 25%.
  • You’ve had AF symptoms in the last 3 months.
  • You can use the CardiaCare home monitor (chest patch) and have a smartphone.
  • You agree not to change your anti-arrhythmia (rhythm-control) medications during the study.
