This study combines electronic health record data and detailed heart testing to better understand different heart failure types and what treatments may work best for each. It mainly enrolls people with known heart failure, and also some people without heart failure for comparison.

Who can take part
- You are at least 30 years old.
- You must have a prior heart record diagnosis of heart failure (for the HF group) or no prior HF diagnosis and no loop “water pill” use (for the comparison group).
- If you are in the HFpEF group: your heart ultrasound shows ejection fraction (squeezing strength) of at least 50%.
- If you are in the non-HF group: you do not have lab evidence suggesting heart failure, like high BNP or NT-proBNP (if those tests exist in your chart).
- You can’t have certain other major heart or lung conditions (like specific cardiomyopathies or some types of pulmonary hypertension).
- You must be able to sign consent and not have a life expectancy under 1 year or certain recent major heart events.
