Heart failure study using data and exercise testing

Heart FailureHeart Failure, DiastolicHeart Failure With Preserved Ejection Fraction (HFPEF)

Part of Heart & circulation clinical trials.

This study looks at different types of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (a form of heart failure where the heart pumps normally but doesn't fill properly). Researchers will use past medical records and possibly a special exercise test to better understand these types and how to treat them.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older
  • You have been diagnosed with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (LVEF 50% or higher)
  • You receive care at the Local Health Unit of the Leiria Region (Portugal) since September 2018 (for the first part)
  • If chosen for the second part, you must be willing and able to do a cardiopulmonary exercise test (a test that measures your heart and lungs during exercise)
  • You must be able to give written informed consent (for the second part)

Heart failure study with preserved pumping function

This study looks at how the heart muscle works in people with a type of heart failure where the heart pumps normally but doesn't fill properly. It aims to understand the cause better, which could lead to new treatments.

NCT05441839Recruiting
Heart failure with preserved pumping function study in the UK

This trial studies people who have heart failure symptoms but whose heart pumping strength is largely preserved. It aims to better understand this specific type of heart failure and how best to treat or evaluate it.

Heart fat and preserved ejection fraction heart failure trial

This study looks at whether fat around the heart affects a type of heart failure where the heart pumps well but is stiff (HFpEF). You may be able to join if you have this condition, are 18 or older, and can understand English.

Heart failure study using genetics and clinical data

This study looks at different types of heart failure to better understand how they progress. It uses genetic information and clinical tests. The goal is to find more precise ways to predict outcomes and personalize treatment.

Understanding Heart Failure With Normal Pumping Function

This study helps doctors better understand a type of heart failure where the heart pumps normally but has trouble relaxing and filling with blood. Researchers will use ultrasound, blood tests, and clinical information to identify different subtypes and improve treatment.

Exercise training study for people with heart failure

This study looks for blood and other markers that can explain how people with heart failure respond to exercise training. It may help researchers better tailor exercise or treatment plans for heart failure in the future.
