Who can take part
- You’re age 18 or older.
- Your implant infection involves only one germ: Cutibacterium acnes, and it’s “rifampicin-susceptible.”
- Two separate samples taken during your implant surgery both grew Cutibacterium acnes.
- You had surgery to treat the infection (one-stage or two-stage revision) for a knee, hip, or shoulder implant.
- Your bacteria test shows you can be treated with either amoxicillin or moxifloxacin, based on susceptibility and your history.
- If you could become pregnant, you must use very effective birth control during treatment and until the drug has fully cleared.
