Who can take part
- You have a recent neurologic injury such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, or spinal cord injury, and your condition is stable
- A leg ultrasound test you had is negative for a blood clot (deep vein thrombosis, or DVT)
- A bone scan is positive for early bone overgrowth (heterotopic ossification) after symptoms start
- If bone overgrowth is confirmed in your hip or knee, you must be able to get a CT scan to measure it
- You can safely receive gentle joint motion using a CPM machine (no life-threatening issues that would make it unsafe)
