Who can take part
- You are age 16 or older (or you have a legal representative who can consent for you).
- You started intensive cancer treatment within 3 days before the study randomization (for AML/MDS, a relapse re-induction, or a stem-cell transplant conditioning regimen).
- Your doctors expect neutropenia to last at least 7 days, with ANC under 0.5 (as reported by your care team).
- You expect to be in the hospital for at least 10 days.
- You do NOT have a confirmed or suspected infection already documented by signs or lab tests, and you are not already on broad-spectrum antibiotics.
