Who can take part
- You have a blood cancer (like leukemia or lymphoma) and are getting chemotherapy, a bone marrow transplant, or CAR-T cell therapy.
- You currently have a fever (temperature at least 38.3°C once or 38.0°C for an hour) with very low white blood cells (under 1000 cells per microliter of blood).
- Your low white blood cell count is expected to last at least 7 days.
- You have a confirmed infection in your blood caused by Gram-negative bacteria.
- You do not have pneumonia or a serious belly infection like typhlitis.
- You are not still having positive blood cultures after starting antibiotics.
