Who can take part

  • You have a new, disabling stroke symptom on one side (or focal brain symptoms) that started recently
  • The stroke team must confirm a clot blockage in a specific artery (terminal internal carotid, middle cerebral, or basilar)
  • Treatment must start within 24 hours of symptom onset (time of first symptoms)
  • Brain CT scan must show enough healthy tissue (ASPECTS score 6 or higher)
  • Your baseline disability level before this stroke must be low (mRS 0 to 2)
  • There should not be major bleeding or dangerous swelling/shifting of the brain on the baseline CT
