This study looks at the best body temperature to use during heart surgery when a heart-lung machine is needed. You may be able to join if you are having bypass surgery or valve repair, your risk score is moderate or higher, and your surgery is not an emergency.

Who can take part
- You are 18 years or older and scheduled for heart bypass surgery and/or valve repair or replacement (either planned or urgent).
- Your heart surgery risk score (EuroSCORE II) is 2 or higher, which means your surgeon has assessed your risk as moderate or greater.
- You can understand the trial information, communicate with the team, and give your consent in English.
- Your surgery must use a heart-lung machine (not off-pump) and not stop your heart with deep cold.
- You are not having emergency or salvage surgery, and you are not in another research trial.
