DDAVP to prevent sodium overcorrection in severe low sodium

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You are currently in the ICU.
  • You have severely low sodium with symptoms like seizures, confusion, or very low sodium levels (<115).
  • You do not have certain heart, liver, or kidney conditions that cause fluid retention.
  • You have not already received DDAVP or hypertonic saline for this episode.
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding.
