Who can take part

  • You are pregnant with a single baby (no twins or triplets).
  • You are at least 18 years old and your pregnancy is between 19 and 26 weeks when you start.
  • Your baby has a confirmed spina bifida defect in the upper to mid-back, along with Chiari II malformation (a related brain condition).
  • Your baby does not have other major birth defects and has normal chromosomes (genetic testing done).
  • You do not have certain health issues like poorly controlled diabetes, severe obesity (BMI over 45), or a short cervix.
  • You are willing to travel and follow the study's schedule, and you have a support person with you.
