Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 65 years old.
  • You have been diagnosed with drug-resistant focal epilepsy, meaning seizures are not controlled with medication.
  • You are suspected of having a condition called mesial temporal lobe epilepsy (MTLE), and you are being considered for surgery.
  • You have had a normal MRI or one showing a specific finding called hippocampal sclerosis.
  • You are able to have an MRI scan with a contrast dye injection (gadolinium).
  • You do not have certain other brain conditions like a tumor, stroke, or dementia.
