This trial tests a new medicine called VE303, a live bacterial therapy, to prevent C. diff infections from coming back. It is for people who have had C. diff at least once in the last 6 months, or who are at high risk for a repeat infection due to age or other health problems.

Who can take part

  • You have had a lab-confirmed C. diff infection (with at least 3 loose stools in 24 hours on two days) within the last 6 weeks, and you completed standard antibiotics
  • You either had another C. diff infection in the last 6 months, OR you are 75+ years old, OR you have 2 or more risk factors like age over 65, kidney problems, recent PPI use, prior C. diff 6–12 months ago, a weak immune system, or transplant history
  • Your C. diff symptoms are now under control (less than 3 loose stools per day) for at least 2 days
  • You have no chronic diarrhea from other causes, no active inflammatory bowel disease or other serious gut conditions (like celiac disease, microscopic colitis, short gut, or recent bowel ischemia)
  • You have not used bezlotoxumab (Zinplava) for this current C. diff episode, and you won't need other antibiotics for a non-CDI infection through Week 24
  • You can stop probiotics (yogurt and kefir are okay) 2 days before study drug and during dosing
