Who can take part
- You have advanced gum disease (stage III) with at least one deep pocket (6 mm or more) around a tooth that has bone loss (at least 3 mm deep) but not into the fork of the roots.
- The tooth must be alive (not root-canaled or dead).
- You have not taken antibiotics or other gum medications in the last 6 months.
- You have not had any gum treatment (like deep cleaning or surgery) in the past 6 months.
- You are 18 years or older, willing to sign a consent form, and motivated to take care of your teeth.
- You are generally healthy (no major medical conditions), a non-smoker, and not pregnant or breastfeeding.
