Who can take part

  • You had a first-time stroke caused by a blood clot (ischemic stroke) that affected one side of the brain, specifically the middle cerebral artery area.
  • Your stroke happened between 12 and 36 months ago.
  • You have moderate to severe weakness in your arm and hand on the affected side, but can still move your elbow or fingers at least a little.
  • Your arm muscles are not extremely stiff or locked in place (very tight muscles are excluded).
  • You do not have severe memory or thinking problems (you can follow instructions and participate in rehab).
