Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 75 years old.
  • You have been diagnosed with decompensated cirrhosis (liver failure with complications like fluid buildup or confusion).
  • Your liver function score (Child-Pugh) is between 7 and 12, meaning moderate to severe liver damage.
  • You are well enough to do daily activities without much help (ECOG 0-2 or Karnofsky score over 60).
  • If you have hepatitis B or C, your virus levels must be low (below 1000 IU/mL for B, below 15 IU/mL for C). For alcohol-related cirrhosis, you must have been sober for at least 6 months.
  • Your liver enzymes (ALT) are no more than 3 times the normal maximum.
