Who can take part

  • You are 18 or older and have a balloon pump in your leg artery (intra-aortic balloon pump) for at least 2 days.
  • You are not on a breathing machine (ventilator).
  • Your heart rate and blood pressure are stable (not too high or too low).
  • You have not had a stroke or other brain injury that affects movement or thinking.
  • You do not have any untreated blood clots in your leg or autoimmune/rheumatic diseases.
