Who can take part

  • You are being seen in the emergency department for possible blood clot in the lungs (pulmonary embolism).
  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You have a D-dimer blood test done as part of your emergency visit.
  • You live in Ontario and have a valid Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) card.
  • You have not had imaging for blood clots (like a CT scan or ultrasound) in the past 30 days.
  • You are not on blood thinners for a reason other than a blood clot.
