Who can take part

  • You are between 50 and 85 years old.
  • You have arthritis in one knee and are scheduled for a total knee replacement.
  • Your physical health status is classed as ASA I, II, or III (generally healthy to moderate health risk).
  • Your kidney function is normal (GFR at least 60).
  • You have not taken gabapentin or pregabalin in the 3 months before surgery.
  • You have not had surgery on that knee before.
  • You have no severe liver disease.
