Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 80 years old.
- You had a stroke caused by a blockage in a major artery in the front part of the brain, and the blockage was confirmed by a CT scan.
- Your stroke began more than 6 hours but less than 24 hours before the clot-removal procedure.
- Before the stroke, you were able to function independently (score 0 to 2 on a disability scale).
- Your stroke caused at least 6 points on a stroke severity scale and affected your brain functions like movement or speech.
- Imaging shows that part of your brain is still salvageable (there is enough healthy tissue around the damaged area) and you have good blood flow to that area.
- The clot-removal procedure successfully opened the blocked artery, and you can start study treatment within 36 hours of stroke onset.
- You do not have severe kidney, liver, or bleeding problems, and you are not pregnant or breastfeeding.
