Who can take part
- You have been diagnosed with ALS (probable or definite according to standard criteria).
- You are between 20 and 80 years old.
- You are in King's Stage 3 or 4 (more advanced ALS).
- You weigh at least 45 kg (99 lbs) and have a body mass index (BMI) of 18 or higher.
- You are either not taking riluzole or have been on a stable dose for at least 4 weeks.
- Your breathing strength (FVC) is at least 60% of what is expected for your age, sex, and height.
- You can have an MRI scan.
- You do not have major cognitive problems, mental illness, epilepsy, recent serious infection, or other serious diseases.
- You have not had stem cell or gene therapy for ALS before.
