Who can take part
- You must be 18 years old or older.
- You must be in the ICU or emergency room and expected to use a breathing mask (noninvasive ventilation) for at least 2 more hours while still breathing on your own.
- You or a close relative must sign a consent form agreeing to join the study.
- You cannot be enrolled in another research study that tests a treatment.
- You must not be pregnant, and if you are a woman who could become pregnant, you must not be pregnant.
