Who can take part

  • You are 60 years old or older.
  • You have a chronic subdural hematoma (a collection of blood on the brain's surface) that is more than 1 cm thick on a CT or MRI scan.
  • You had symptoms like headache, dizziness, weakness, or trouble walking before surgery.
  • You had a burr hole drainage (a small surgery to drain the blood).
  • You do not have other serious health problems like severe cancer, bleeding disorders, or a recent blood clot in your leg or lung.
  • You are able to follow up for one year and can follow the posture instructions (like lying in a certain position) after surgery.
