This study looks at whether calcium buildup in brain arteries affects how well clot removal (mechanical thrombectomy) works for stroke patients. You may be able to join if you have a large artery blockage, a CT scan was done, and you are having the clot removal procedure.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 or older (male or non-pregnant female).
  • You have a blockage in a major brain artery (like the internal carotid, middle cerebral, or basilar artery) seen on a scan.
  • You are scheduled for a procedure called mechanical thrombectomy to remove the clot.
  • You have no severe allergy to the dye used in CT scans (iodinated contrast).
  • You do not have severe kidney disease (creatinine over 2.5 or on dialysis).
  • Your stroke symptoms started less than 24 hours ago.
