Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 80 years old
  • You had a sudden loss of brain function (stroke) caused by a complete blockage of the basilar artery
  • The blockage was found within 24 hours of when your symptoms started or when you were last seen normal
  • Imaging shows a large stroke (damage) in the back part of your brain (posterior circulation)
  • Your stroke symptoms are severe, with an NIHSS score of 10 or higher
  • You were able to take care of yourself before the stroke (modified Rankin Scale 0 to 2)
