Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You have been diagnosed with chronic liver disease caused by alcohol, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, or fatty liver disease (MASLD).
  • Your liver stiffness measurement and platelet count must show you are at high risk for developing serious liver problems, as defined by specific medical criteria.
  • You must not have moderate-to-large esophageal varices (enlarged veins in the food pipe) or any other serious liver complications like cirrhosis with fluid buildup, bleeding, or brain issues.
  • You are not currently taking a non-selective beta-blocker (like carvedilol or propranolol) and have not taken one in the last 6 months.
  • You do not have conditions that make beta-blockers unsafe, such as slow heart rate, low blood pressure, asthma, or certain heart blocks.
