Who can take part

  • You had a cardiac arrest and your heartbeat returned within the last 2 hours.
  • You are between 18 and 85 years old.
  • Your heartbeat was sustained for at least 20 minutes after it returned.
  • You were not awake and able to follow simple commands within the first hour after your heartbeat returned.
  • Your medical team does not plan to withdraw life support within the first 3 days.
  • You do not have a condition (like pregnancy or being in prison) that would make the study unsafe or inappropriate for you.
