This trial tests whether combining two types of brain stimulation (iTBS and NMES) can improve swallowing problems after a stroke. If you have had trouble swallowing for at least two weeks but no longer than six months after your stroke, you may be able to join.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 to 80 years old.
  • You have had a stroke (confirmed by a doctor and brain scan) and have difficulty swallowing (confirmed by a special video X-ray test).
  • Your swallowing problem started between 2 weeks and 6 months ago, and your vital signs are stable.
  • You can sit upright for 30 minutes with or without help.
  • You have no metal implants in your head, no history of seizures, and no broken or infected skin on the front of your neck.
  • You do not have another condition that could cause swallowing trouble (like Parkinson's disease or past head/neck radiation).
