- You are older than 18.
- You are currently in the intensive care unit (ICU).
- You have a new external ventricular drain (EVD) that was put in less than 12 hours ago.
- You have had a CT or MRI brain scan taken within the 24 hours before or 24 hours after the drain was inserted.
