Who can take part

  • You must have breast cancer or non-small cell lung cancer that has spread to the lining of the brain or spinal cord.
  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • You should be able to take care of most daily activities (Karnofsky score of 60 or higher).
  • You cannot have had prior radiation to the spine that would make this treatment unsafe.
  • You must not have had any treatment specifically for this cancer spread before joining.
  • Your blood counts and organ function (kidney, liver) must be within certain safe limits.
