Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 50 (female) or 21 and 50 (male) and have type 1 diabetes for at least 1 year but not more than 5 years.
  • You still make some of your own insulin (C-peptide level of at least 0.2 nmol/L).
  • You have had at least one positive antibody test for type 1 diabetes (GAD, IA-2, or ZnT8).
  • Your hemoglobin A1c is 9.5% or lower, and you haven't had severe low blood sugar or DKA in the last 3 months.
  • You are not taking any diabetes medications other than insulin, and you have not used certain bone-related drugs (like bisphosphonates) in the past year.
  • You have not had a major bone fracture or jaw problems in the last year, and your vitamin D level is normal.
