Who can take part
- You are 18 to 90 years old.
- You have been diagnosed with major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, or schizoaffective disorder and are currently experiencing a major depressive episode with suicidal thoughts.
- Your doctor has recommended electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) for your condition.
- You are medically stable and do not have any serious medical conditions that would make ECT unsafe.
- You are not pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant during the study.
- You have not had ECT in the past month or failed a full course of ECT before.
