If you qualify, you would receive esketamine during your procedure to see if it improves outcomes.

Who can take part
- You are between 50 and 80 years old and have a physical status of ASA II or III (a way to rate health before surgery).
- You have Parkinson's disease and are scheduled for a bilateral STN-DBS, which is a surgery that implants electrodes in a part of the brain called the subthalamic nucleus.
- You do not have obstructive sleep apnea.
- Your body mass index (BMI) is 30 or below (not obese).
- You do not have severe anxiety or serious problems with your heart, kidneys, or liver.
- You have not had an allergic reaction to the anesthetics used in this study (esketamine or related drugs).
