  • You have a new blood clot in a brain vein confirmed by a scan (CT or MRI)
  • You can start the study medicine within 14 days of that scan
  • You are able to swallow pills
  • You do not have severe kidney problems, a bleeding disorder, or a condition that requires other blood thinners
