Who can take part

  • You have had a brain bleed within the last 3 days
  • You have a history of heart, leg, or neck artery disease, or at least 2 risk factors like age 60+, high blood pressure, diabetes, smoking, or kidney disease
  • Your brain bleed was not caused by injury, a tumor, or a bleeding disorder
  • The bleed on your last scan is not larger than 60 mL (about the size of a tennis ball)
  • You are awake enough to participate and are not on a breathing machine
  • You do not have severe liver or kidney disease, active inflammatory bowel disease, or chronic diarrhea
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding, and have no known allergy to colchicine
