Who can take part

  • You must be 22 to 64 years old
  • You need a diagnosis of OCD that started at least 5 years ago
  • Your OCD is severe and hasn't gotten better with at least 3 different SSRI medications, plus clomipramine, and an antipsychotic
  • You must have tried at least 25 hours of a specific type of therapy called exposure and response prevention (ERP)
  • You must be approved for DBS surgery within 2 months of joining the study
  • You cannot have a history of schizophrenia, hoarding disorder, or recent substance abuse
