- You have been diagnosed with primary knee osteoarthritis and are scheduled for your first total knee replacement surgery.
- You are over 18 years old and in generally good health (heart, liver, kidney, blood pressure and blood sugar levels are stable).
- You have not had any previous surgery or infection in the same knee.
- You are not allergic to any of the anesthetics used in this study.
- You are not dependent on strong painkillers (opioids or local anesthetics) for more than 3 months before the study.
