Who can take part

  • You have spontaneous bleeding in the brain (not from an injury or other cause).
  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You had a brain CT scan within 24 hours of when symptoms began or you were last seen well.
  • You had a follow-up CT scan within 72 hours of the first scan.
  • Your bleeding was not caused by trauma, a blood vessel problem, a tumor, or a stroke treatment.
  • Your bleeding was not mainly in the fluid-filled spaces of the brain, and you did not have surgery with a drain or skull opening.
