Who can take part
- Your baby must be eligible for standard cooling treatment (hypothermia) for birth asphyxia.
- Your baby must have had severe acidosis (very low pH or high base deficit) in a blood test right after birth.
- Your baby must have moderate to severe signs of brain irritation (encephalopathy) after birth.
- Your baby must be 6 hours old or younger when the study starts.
- Your baby must be born at 36 weeks of pregnancy or later.
- You (the parent) must give permission for your baby to join the study.
