Who can take part
- Baby was born at 36 weeks or later
- Within 6 hours after birth, the baby has mild brain injury on a neurologic exam
- There are signs around birth of an oxygen-acidosis problem (from blood gas results or a serious birth event)
- Baby weighs at least 1,800 grams at birth and has head size of 30 cm or more
- No seizures in the first 6 hours, and you are not considering switching to comfort-only care
