Who can take part
- You must be between 18 and 75 years old.
- You must have type 2 diabetes and kidney damage caused by diabetes (also called diabetic kidney disease).
- You must also have diabetic retinopathy (eye damage from diabetes) that is moderate or severe but not yet in the advanced stage.
- You must be on a stable dose of a blood pressure medicine (ACE inhibitor or ARB) for at least 4 weeks.
- Your urine protein level must be between 0.5 and 3.5 grams per day, and your kidney function (eGFR) must be 30 or higher.
- Your blood pressure must be 140/90 or lower, and your blood sugar control (HbA1c) must be less than 9%.
