Who can take part

  • You are between 12 and 17 years old (adolescent).
  • You have obesity (BMI at or above 95th percentile for your age and sex) OR are overweight (BMI 85th to 94th percentile) with a related health problem like high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, or sleep apnea.
  • You have already tried to lose weight with diet and exercise for at least 3 months without lasting success.
  • You have not lost more than 11 pounds in the past 3 months without trying.
  • You have not had weight-loss surgery and are not planning to have any.
  • You do not have type 1 diabetes or a medical condition that directly causes obesity (like a hormone problem).
