Full arch vs hemiarch surgery for acute aortic dissection

Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 80 years old.
  • You have a type A aortic dissection where the main tear is located beyond the first part of the aorta (ascending aorta).
  • You are not in a coma, do not have irreversible organ failure, and did not need CPR right before surgery.
  • You do not have an active cancer that would limit your life expectancy to less than 2 years.
  • You are willing and able to give your informed consent.
