Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You are scheduled for a planned (non-emergency) surgery.
  • Your surgery will use general anesthesia with a breathing tube placed in your windpipe.
  • You have not had surgery on the front of your neck (such as thyroid surgery).
  • You have not had radiation therapy to your neck area.
  • You are not pregnant, and your surgery is not related to childbirth.
