Using eye imaging to predict diabetic eye disease progression

This study tests whether advanced eye imaging can predict how diabetic eye disease (retinopathy) may worsen over time. If you have type 2 diabetes and early to moderate diabetic retinopathy without swelling in the central part of the retina, you may be able to join.

Who can take part

  • You are 40 to 80 years old.
  • You have type 2 diabetes and are being seen at Peking University Third Hospital's endocrinology department.
  • You have mild to moderately severe diabetic retinopathy (non-proliferative) without swelling in the center of your retina.
  • You are willing to sign a consent form and attend follow-up visits for 3 years.
  • You do not have certain eye conditions like active infection, severe dry eye, or recent eye surgery.
  • You do not have a serious blood disorder, thyroid condition, autoimmune disease, or cancer.
