This trial is for people having robotic thyroid surgery (removing all or part of the thyroid with a robot). It aims to create a scoring system to measure how well surgeons perform the procedure. You may be eligible if you have a small thyroid cancer or a benign nodule and want the best cosmetic result.

Who can take part

  • You have a type of thyroid cancer called differentiated thyroid cancer, and the largest tumor is 4 cm or smaller.
  • Or you have a non-cancerous thyroid nodule (benign) that is 6 cm or smaller.
  • You care a lot about how your neck will look after surgery (high cosmetic expectations).
  • You are scheduled for or have had robotic thyroid surgery that did not need to be switched to open surgery.
  • You have not had any previous neck surgery or radiation therapy to the neck.
  • Your vocal cords move normally (checked with a special scope before surgery) and there are no signs the cancer has spread to distant organs or that lymph nodes in the neck are stuck together.
