Who can take part
- 18 years or older
- Willing and able to give informed consent
- For the blood clot group: deep vein clot confirmed by ultrasound or lung clot confirmed by CT scan
- For the heart attack group: specific heart changes on EKG and a blocked artery seen on angiogram
- For the stroke group: stroke seen on MRI along with a heart rhythm problem called atrial fibrillation
- For the healthy group: no known medical conditions and no prior blood clot, heart attack, or stroke
